Obama just dropped by Mumbai today. As luck would have it, i get to leave on a business trip back to the US--talk about an unexpected bonus!
For someone who has not been able to create jobs in the US, it is not clear what his agenda in India is. let's do a quick count:
Obama brings:
1. No support for technology transfers
2. No support for a seat for India on the Security Council
3. Plenty of support to Pakistan, with practically no strings attached
Obama seeks:
1. More Indian investment
2. More Indian economic support
Now that's a good way to make friends and influence people. Way to go, Barack!

I think your blog is a wonderful idea because when I was in India last, I noticed two cultural changes:
ReplyDeletea) A lot more expatriates (of non Indian origin) are moving there for work/study.
b) A lot of expatriates of Indian origin are returning.
Your blog will give them a running account of the trials & tribulations of doing so. On your comment on spirituality, I am reminded of something that Krishna Das (of kirtanwalla fame) once said to an audience...." When I went to India I realized that religion & spirituality is in the conscious & subconscious of society. Unlike anywhere else in the world, shops & businesses will be named after dieties(in the West you will seldom have a shop called Christ etc.) ; virtually every dashboard will have a diety sitting on it; buses & trucks will have paintings & names of dieties on them & unlike the West religion & Spirituality are associated with having fun....alien concept in Long island!".
Stay well. Love to the family.

Interesting comment, Donny, especially the way you have woven the business and spiritual . . . that is probably the essence of India.
